Silence is all I found
Long, lasting, unwanted,
In all those places where,
The sound of my blood
Pulsed through my ears.
Sometimes I thought I
Heard a word or sigh;
Expectation turned to ash,
In the fiery pyre
Of disappointed hope.
Distance is my only ally,
My darkest friend,
And truest comfort;
Cold though it is,
Amidst the snows of Sorrow.
And even the sorrow is
But my own.
Invisible to all else
By design,
An enforced isolation.
Silence is all I found,
In the wasteland of my heart,
Dry and barren
In the wake of his passing;
Oenone’s pain is mine.
But she was first chosen;
Until Venus bestowed
Her Golden Apple.
I, have not even a pip
To cast at mightier powers.
Within my silence lies,
An illusion woven of dreams.
Freshly pierced, rent, torn,
By honest, fresh-faced, reality,
Unveiling my scarred gaze.
Perhaps I shall yet re-emerge
Whole, in the way elements are,
Once the snows have been melted
By the fires of renewal,
And find myself ready to fly once more.

This piece really touches me. I love the way it makes me feel when I read through these beautifully crafted lines. The succession of moments, the images, the references all come together perfectly.
The daunting absence of sound is transcended by your words, reaching out to me. I can feel it all. The pain, the loneliness, the agony, and the hope, finally.
The unwanted, ever-present silence resonates through your words and made its way to my heart. The sweet sorrow, beautiful agony of silent hope.
I have read it three times already and find myself still wanting for more.
Your words undoubtedly grabbed the essence of the experience. Through their medium you can feel everything secondhand, just as strongly as you would firsthand.
You are a gifted writer and poet! Thank you so much for sharing.

I am deeply touched that you could feel my poem. Especially as it’s essence is my own experience put into words; an honest, raw truth.
In a way, it makes me both glad and sorry that it’s silence has resonated so well, but I have recently been told that some of our best work is done through the agony within our souls. So perhaps it is alright for me to accept your kind words.
Thank you for reading it and liking it. I means a lot to me.

I am afraid I have to concur. My favorite pieces bear the mark of living through them. Although I do believe you can achieve greatness through fiction too. You just have to work a little harder for it.
It is more than alright for you to accept my words, which are kind, yes but more importantly true to my regards for your work.
I am pretty sure I will keep liking your words and I am also terribly thankful we crossed paths on this platform!
You rock!

Yes, absolutely! Fiction is such a varied and creative medium for anything one might want to say. It is true that every piece of fiction is a semi-autobiography of the author. I find that incredibly fascinating!
In fact, I’m writing a Harry Potter story on Fanfiction under a pseudonym, which has, so far, been very well received. And has been really fun to write too! 🙂
Thank you for liking my words. You have been rocking for way longer than I! I am extremely pleased at having come across your work and gained your endorsement of my work in such beautiful comments!
Thank you, again! 🙂

Ah, I don’t mind sharing it at all! In fact, thank you for asking! Here it is, with hopes you will enjoy it as far as it has been written, as it is still a work in progress.
Happy reading! 🙂
