Frozen Moment #4

Caught in the prison of my mind

A long term detainee, awaiting freedom;

Except,

Over fifteen years

I’ve forgotten what freedom was.

  1. And, indeed, it is SO true that someone can actually be a prisoner for so long that they forget what freedom is like. The question then becomes, what do they do when they ARE finally freed? Some wander, some thrive … but do you know there are actually those that turn around and walk right back into the prison because it has actually become more “comfortable.” Excellent write! 🙂

    1. And you’ve made exactly the right observation for this piece!! Thank you so much!! Trust you to see into the soul of the poem and draw out these inferences with perfect accuracy!! I’m so glad that you read it and that you like it! 🙂

  2. …yes Ruth.Words of truth and as Jon mentioned there are those who fear freedom itself! Cannot handle it…and then how do you define freedom? The ability to stay grounded and true to your inner Self?…note capital S? We have all been prisoners to some extent in one way or another and we all seek this Freedom that we know has never ever actually left us. Aaah I had better go before I philosophise too much… Thank you Ruth for these gem-words! Hope you have a comfortable day, take good care… 🌹❤️

    1. Aw, I love to read your words, Krys, so philosophize away! You and Jon are both so right about the meaning I was aiming to reflect here, and I am happy I’ve done well enough for it to be recognized. Ever so glad you like these words! Hope you’re enjoying yourself as well, my friend! Have a wonderful day! :)<3
